July 11, 2010

President Summerhays is awesome i love the guy! haha. and now I'm to that point in my mission were i don't want to come home i love it out here! I think i am really catching what the mission is all about and i am having fun teaching the gospel it is great! Ya it's been really bad here the last few weeks and it rains almost everyday but that is nice. Nothing to exciting to tell with the investigators but we are still meeting with Joey, he is still on track and really cant wait to be baptized so i hope all goes well and i get to see him baptized. We are working with another guy named Kevin, he young about 20 and know the church is true but doesn't want to commit just yet but he loves it and we just need to get him out to ward volleyball night or something. Oh funny story about the Amburgy boys we baptized... well i get this call yesterday after church and we were at the other elders apartment eating lunch and waiting for a dinner appointment and it was the Haitian missionaries and they were like hey we are here at the church and we have some one who wants to talk to you...then i hear a faint hello come on the phone thinking it was some girl but it ended up being the youngest Amburgy boy, Cage (8). He rode his bike all the way to the church which is like 3 miles away in this hell heat to come to church to see me since we haven't seen them in awhile cause we turned them over to their home teachers. He wanted to come to church to see me but was just a few hours to late haha but it was awesome! I love the kid! Man that's gotta be one of the best stories on my mission yet. We are going to everglades city where all the gators are with a member and so i gotta go ill talk to you later. Love Ya!

How was the 4th for you all? I really missed it back home, we didn't even get to see fireworks cause we Had to be in by 8:00. :( We did go to a p-raid on Saturday and jumped in at the end handing out pass-along cards so hopefully some referrals become of it. Ya i heard most of the guys back home have been getting their calls, and its crazy to think in 2 weeks from now ill hit 5 months! Man it's cookin. Now President Colton is gone but we met and had interviews with President Summerhays on Wednesday and he is the coolest down to earth loving guy. Anywho' not much new in Naples, we set a date with one of our guys and are still working with a hand full of others, so it is still moving along. I am pretty sure I'm out of here the next transfer (7/20) but who knows. What else Well i think that is it for now. Well i love this work and continue to grow and love this gospel. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and the sacrifice he made for me. I know my Heavenly Father knows and loves me. I am so blessed to have a support unit like you guys. I hope you all have a great week and may the Lord continue to bless you. I love you guys and will talk to you next week.

June, 2010

It's quite a bit different for me out here in the real world. Joseph Smith has become one of my most looked up to heroes for what he did and went through. I have grow to have a love for him and hope to be able to meet him someday. we went finding last night at a trailer park and met some nice people and some... well we will just leave it at that. One guy started chewing us out and said there is no God and religion starts 98% of the wars in the world. So then i asked him " well do you have a father, does he love you ...well then why can't we have a Father in Heaven? he just stood there for a second and then said "well then if there is a God i want to kick his butt." So we said thanks for your time!:) But this did bother me that anyone could think so much crap! So that was my first official someone yelling at me. The guy in the trailer park just had a bad attitude about life and no desire to change or soften his heart, at least not yet. But it felt good i had no hate or bad feelings toward him, just felt bad that he felt that way to our Heavenly Father and Savior. Alright nothing to much else to tell. Still working with Joey and some others but the work still rolls on. Well i love you all and know this is were i am needed at this time. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and what he went through for me. I hope ya'll have a great week.

April 29, 2010

Well to start off it has been a pretty good week. Transfers were Tues. like i said our DL is training a way cool guy but his greenie seems way up tight but I guess we all have that at first. Another Elder came out he is 6' 9'' and played college ball before so I will have to test the waters come Monday on the court. :) But yes me and Elder Carlile are still together here in Naples South, I might be her for 6 months but I know for sure I will be for at least another transfer. So 4 1/2 months at least. We just set another baptismal date with Tiger I think I told you about him in my last letter but we set it for the 8Th ;) YA THE 8TH!! ( Brighten is #8) And hope to set another with his nephew who is a senior, we try and play ball with him when we can to kinda fellowship him so. And we set one with the 9 year old Savanna but we are waiting for her grandpa to get back for him to preform the baptism. But other than that it is getting hella hot and I have already been burned and am peeling real bad. Oh and guess what? We have Elder Niel A. Anderson coming to talk to us on the 15Th!! Pretty cool but I was hoping for Holland or Packer but oh well it is a General Authority. The lessons are coming along pretty well I have the first one down to a "T" cause that's the one we get to teach most and then we never get to come back... Ya it's mission life. I did have a neat experience yesterday while we were teaching Tiger about the Plan of Salvation and we were talking about how we need to be baptized so we extended the commitment to him and he said he would if that's what God would have him do. And at that moment I had the impression to promise him, so I did and I told him our Heavenly Father wants us all to be happy and he loves us so much, he knows each one of us one by one personally. And that he wants that joy for him and that he loves him. I don't recall all I said but the Spirit was so strong I knew he felt it and that i did to. He then said I guess your right... He does want me to . I know that our Heavenly Father paves the way for for us and worked through us with the spirit what a wonderful message we have to share with the world. Pray for us to continue to teach and have the Spirit, that we can be bold and have that light, and also pray for us to over come the temptations of everyday. I love you all and hope you have a great week.

April 22, 2010

This last week a few days have been challenging but have been good. Sunday we had our 2 investigators flak on us and didnt come to church but we were blessed to have another couple come to church cause it was the closes church around. So we taught Tiger is his name (we play eye of the tiger to prep for the lesson with him!!! JK) it turned out well we taught at the church and the spirt was very strong. When we told of the first vision and the Book of Mormon he was like wow i had no idea there was all of this here today. We left him with the challenge to read and pray about what we taught him so we have a return app. Friday. We also will teach his nephew and wife who were comming to the Hatain branch befor so he is way cool and a baller. Other than that transfers are next week my 2 month mark is Saturday ( painting houses and a church but not ours) there are suppose to be 500 people there so its gonna be sweet!Well i know that this gospel is true and that our Hevenly Father loves us and i am so very thankful for our Saviors atoning sacrifice. I love sharing this happy wonderful message with the people of Flordia. I love you all and I hope everything is going good back home. Alright Laterz.

Elder Peters
